What's CST?
Since 2006, Centre per a la Sostenibilitat Territorial (CST) is an
association that promotes a “new territorial culture”. This concept
means a new way of understanding and getting in touch with the
territory. CST joins environmentalist associations and conservationist
groups, teachers and university researchers, economic and professional
agents, and citizens in general. From the beginning, CST aims to improve
and consolidate a net of complicity that will allow us acting as
observers, diffusers and socializers of new values and also work as a
collective agent.
In which area is CST working?
The CST has started his activity in the region of Girona, as the focus
and center of his partners and members, and his headquarters are in Sant
Privat d'en Bas (Garrotxa). The Centre plans on being extended by
Catalunya, in rural areas or urban, according to the projects and the
needs of the organized citizenship.
Which projects does the CST develop?
Under the motto "To Observe, to educate and to act for a New Culture of
the Territory", the Centre per a la Sostenibilitat Territorial is
structured in circles. In every specific territory (at present the
regions of the Garrotxa, Ripollès, Pla de l'Estany and Selva) is
established a multidisciplinary work group that analyzes the situation
(observation), creates educational and sensitization programs
(education) and starts off the projects (action). This way of working
has a central structure of support for the management and the
communication.
As example, the CST works in projects as:
· promotion of the organic farming in schools and groups of adults with the program "Planta't a l'hort".
· land stewardship in the Vall d'en Bas through the project Valls Vives from the Escola del Territori.
· citizen participation , through the program "Anem al riu" in the area of Ripollès.
· recovery and promotion of the professions of stockbreeder and peasant,
being the delegation Garrotxa- Ripollès de la Escola de Pagesos i
Pastors (more information in http://projectegripia.wordpress.com/).
· sensitization on the landscape and the health, through workshops in the area of la Selva.
· popularization of the New Culture of the Territory through the
exhibition No m'expliquis cuentus xinos! (more information in
http://www.nomexpliquiscuentusxinos.cat).
· promotion of the debate and of new proposals through seminars of reflection on economy and sustainability.
· promotion of sustainable economic initiatives through meetings with enterprises and groups of consumers.
· training in environmental communication, with the Environmental
Communication Congress (February 2010), a meeting that will take place
every two years in Girona city.
